Email marketing is a popular marketing channel. Twenty-six percent of the time people spend on email is spent reading marketing emails, according to a Merkle study cited by EmailStatCenter. Reasons to use email marketing include a high return on investment, flexibility, and measurability.

    Value of Email Marketing

Email marketing produces a high return on investment (ROI). According to the Direct Marketing Association, every $1 spent on email marketing generated a return of more than $40. Email service providers (ESPs) start at $20 per month, as of 2010, making the investment in email reasonable.

    Flexibility
Scheduling marketing email is highly flexible. Email can be sent weekly or monthly, at any time of day. Email can also be targeted to specific customer segments. Email design can be customized using HTML to suit branding or editorial standards.

    Measurement
Email marketing can be measured in a variety of ways. Most ESPs provide statistics on open rates, click-through rates and subscribers.

    Expanding Capabilities
Many EPSs allow marketers to include video in email and facilitate sharing an email message on social media sites.

    Planning a Campaign
Email marketing campaigns require planning. Marketers decide the frequency, content and customer segments targeted. Email marketing programs are then maintained in a consistent manner with regards to frequency and content.

Be cautious when using Email marketing.
Email lists are always tricky and you never know, the recipient my complain about your email being SPAM and the email provider might ban your account.

I don't really care for it. I'd only use e-mail marketing if I had an item to sell to webmasters (like a game or widget). I prefer using online shops and sites though.

Email marketing is an extremely cost-effective way to communicate with prospects and existing customers. Similar to direct mail, email is a faster, cheaper and easier way to communicate with your prospects and customers. It doesn't matter what type of business or industry you're in, email marketing can have a positive impact on your sales. Email marketing provides a venue for consistent customer engagement. Email messages can be scheduled using auto responder software, which automatically responds to email messages.

There is no doubt that email marketing is one of the oldest and top ways of spreading the word about websites, especially the net shops which have been recently launched and their admins want some quick exposure online.

The real challenge is actually finding the right people, markets and the potential customers that will be eager to follow news and information inside the letters, encourage them to make click on the ad links and visit the promoted websites.

    Hi,
Email marketing can be done at a very low overhead cost! You don't need a ton of employees, designers, or marketing analysts. You don't need to pay for printing, postal mailing costs, phone lines, or advertising rates.

Most reputable websites and blogs have an email newsletter that is sent out to current and previous customers. The purpose of the site newsletter or periodic mailing is to advise the subscriber of site news, discounts and coupons as well as upcoming events on site that might be of interest to the subscriber. If you are interested in having more than a one off sale from a customer, you should encourage them to subscribe to your newsletter. The money is in the list.

I think email marketing is a great tool. Sometimes it be annoying when you're on the receiving end but the newsletters shows your dedication (or greediness) of wanting to keep the client/customer/fan.

It can be annoying to receive advertisement e-mails, which is why you must be careful not to upset potential clients.
